In this way he will accomplish much more and do the work better than by trying to see how many observations he can make in a certain time. A few good observations are worth more than a thousand worthless ones. One of the greatest mistakes a beginner makes (in how it work especially), and one by which he loses the most time is to take stars too close together (i.e., in point of time). Fourth;- A certain amount of dexterity is desirable in operating with the sextant, but this, as is the case in all astronomical work, can only be gained by practice and plenty of it.
