Beginning on the left letter the columns:-- No., a squared, (a + b) squared, (a + c) squared, (a + n) squared, (a + s) squared, b squared, (b + c) squared, (b + n) squared, (b + s) squared, c squared, (c + n) squared, (c + s) squared, n squared, s squared. Number the lines as before to correspond with the equations. Obtain a good book of squares (Barlow's Tables is in Prof. Med's library) and turn to the first equation, of the series. Find the value of the square of the coefficient of x' or (a squared) and record it on the first line of the blank in the column headed (a squared). Get next (b squared), (c squared) and (n squared) for the first equation and record them properly.
