you have just found; (a + b), (a + c), etc. Take (a + b) on the first line, square it and place the result on the first line of the new blank (known as the table of squares) under the head ((a + b) squared). Proceed similarly with all of the other quantities (a + c), (a + [n?]) (a + s) etc., on the first line of the table of sums. Next take the quantities on the second line and find their squares and so on until the whole table is formed. Just below the [illegible] line or at the foot of the columns draw a double line (see blank in Part II) running through the whole blank. Add the numbers in each column and place the sums below this line or on the truth line. The sum of the a[superscript]2[/superscript]s is, for instance, 4.61455381. of the ((a + b) squared)s 6.50885747 etc.
