we have but two, Tetracha Hope. and Cicindela Linn. in both of which the posterior coxae are contiguous, the eyes large and prominent. They are distinguished as follows:— a. Third joint of maxillary palpi longer than the fourth. Tetracha. Hope b. Third joint of maxillary palpi shorter than the fourth. Cicindela. Linn Tetracha Hope. Large, metallic green species; which are winged but seemingly unable to fly. But one species is found in Iowa. 1. Tetracha virginica Linn. Fig. 2. Pl. 3.
