15 membrane made up of interlacing fibres of both white and yellow connective tissue. The intercellular substance has a fibrous wavy appearance and there are some-what irregular, elongated cells scattered sparsely through it. Connective tissue is only of low physiological rank, and yet is important as a skeletal tissue, & as surrounding, penetrating and supporting every organ of the body, forming a complete framework of the same. The structure varies according to the office that the tissue performs.
