The reason I didn't finish that letter is this - Mama began to cough again and couldn't get to sleep so I stayed by her until she began to saw wood. Then I took to reading instead of writing because there was no use trying to write a letter when one ear was perked up in a listening attitude while the other held the pen. And what do you raikon I read? Nothing less than "Cousin Rob't Louis' "Treasure Island." Fine thing to read when you're awake in the middle of the night, and I suppose one legged John Silver would have chased me all thru my dreams if I'd had any. Plupps sat on the rug looking at something that I couldn't see, and alternately registering cold nosed affection and a deep baritone disapproval. Doesn't it beat the band the way a dog will act when you know there's not a blooming thing
