rough trail. In a few minutes from the time we started I knew we were lost, but I said nothing to the driver, allowing him to continue to follow the trail the best he could. It was cool and quiet and pretty in the big woods; I rather enjoyed the sensation of just wandering on blindly. I knew we couldn't drive into Germany with out encountering some of our own soldiers before we reached the line. Eventually we came out at some kind of post where the sound of a piano was coming from a dugout on one side of the road while on the other two army cooks were cleaning up pots and pans beside a "rolling kitchen."
