Ninety-Seven June 13, 1918. Daphne, dear,- It is only a few hours since I wrote to you, but here I am at "home" at 9 o'clock in the evening with nothing to do quite as agreeable as talking to you - so why not? Lieutenant Hartzell is hammering, or rather, tapping away on his typewriter and I have bespread myself in our one big easy chair, using a board on my knee for a writing desk. The recording of events for the folks tuh hum is in full swing. I am at the pinnacle of comfort except for a mild craving for a large beefsteak and a baked potato and a slice of strawberry shortcake with whipped cream. Even a piece of green apple pie with shipped cream, such as I had at a dinner you took me to at the Rogers one night last summer, would do. My
