(State Director's Notes Cont'd) Finally, as State Director, I wish to apologize for not having put out an issue of LULAC Glances sooner. Also, the fact that there is no report on the active councils in Iowa. I plead guilty to the first count, but to the second count the blame must be shared by each council's publicity director. I know what Davenport is doing because I am a member of Council #10, but Des Moines and Ft. Madison have not sent me any news on council activities. Call it lack of communications, but if I don't get any news from your councils, then I cannot write anything in the Glances. I have Davenport's report on its activities, and I will report it in the next issue of LULAC Glances. Contrary to popular belief, LULAC in Iowa also functions in the winter as well as in the summer. LULAC in Iowa implements and takes positive action on resolutions it passes at its State Convention. LULAC in Iowa is a civic minded organization dedicated to improving the social and economic lot of the Latin-American through education and community involvement. So far, only one council in Iowa has demonstrated this quality of what LULAC in Iowa is! I don't mean to offend anyone! But every morning the alarm clock wakes me up, and it tells me, "Wake up! Wake up! It's time to go to work!" Brother and sister LULAC'S I rest my case. Yours for a Greater LULAC JOHN A. TERRONEZ Iowa State LULAC Director (3)
