"OVER [30,000?] PERSONS HAVE BEEN POISONED DUE TO PESTICIDES" - Dr. Samuel Simmons Food and Drug Administration Food Stores has been informed about the dangers of DDT and other pesticides, to the farm worker and to YOU, the consumer. But they continues to ignore these dangers and sell grapes sprayed with tons of poisonous pesticides. YOU SHOULD KNOW: Recent laboratory tests have revealed DDT residues on this year's crop of table grapes--these residues do not wash off! Mother's milk contains 4 times the amount of DDT permitted in dairy milk for sale, David Brower, conservation leader, testifies. DDT is linked to cancer by the Medical World News, a highly respected medical journal. DDT may harm sex organs and reduce drug effectiveness, warns Dr. Richard M. Welch, biochemical pharmacologist from a New York Research Laboratory. There are extremely inadequate inspections and safeguards to protect the farm worker and consumers from dangerous pesticide residues. Every year in California, pesticides seriously poison 400 workers, cause 3,000 children injury, and KILL 45 people. [?] has refused the demands of customers not to handle these grapes.
