[hand written in top right hand corner: delivered at St. Anthony's Church Davenport, Sept 9, 2009] My name is Ernest Rodriguez and Mary was a good friend of mine. Some years ago she once told me that she wanted me to say her eulogy. I consider it and honor to be able to do so. Mary dedicated most of her life to helping others help themselves. In thinking about Mary's motivation to serve others I am reminded of two of beatitudes that our Lord Jesus proclaimed in his sermon on the mountain. One is, "Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice, for they she shall be satisfied." And the other is "Blessed are those who are clean of heart, for they shall see God." Nobody who knew Mary could ever forget her. She was outspoken and did not bite her tongue. She had a sort of charisma about her like Cesar Chavez, organizer of the United Farm Workers who also devoted his life to serve the cause of farmworkers. In the early 70's, I was the Director of a Program called the Area Board for Migrants and Mary worked for me as a Job Developer. Mary was like and older sister to me and
