Recently a federal investigation uncovered a wide spread extortion racket of Mexican illegal aliens implicating U.S. Immigration Service officials from the southwest region all the way to Washington. 
A hearing on immigration problems held in Chicago last year by the Justice Department revealed the Chicago police were blackmailing illegal aliens with the threat of turning them over to the Immigration authorities. 
Another form of exploitation of Mexican aliens is that of individuals and firms specializing in processing immigration papers who charge outrageous fees from $200 to $1,000 dollars for their services. Often the unsuspecting end fearful illegal alien is required to pay $200 dollar advance fee for empty promises to legalize his status in this country. Needless to say there is no money back guarantee. 
Relatives and friends of persons wishing to apply for legal residency status should beware of these sharp operators in the Quad Cities area. We advise these people to contact the Area Board for Migrants who provide these services free of charge to those unable to pay.
