Page 8 Our patriotism is unequaled and beyond question. No one demanded that we speak English before taking up a weapon and heading for the battlefront. This brings to mind on of the hotest issues of today for Hispanics. Today the issue of English as an official language keeps cropping up. Some misguided people associate speaking English with being a good American. We resent such biased legislation tainted with racism. This is only another subtle way of saying go back where you came from or to be American you have to speak English.. Most people don't realize that most of us were born and raised in this country. When I go back where I came from I go to Bettendorf, Iowa.
