Saving...
-4- We are getting it together in the midwest to make some meaningful social changes. Part of getting it together is the problem of making our brothers in the southwest see that geography doesn't make Aztlan or a social cause, people do. So in any national Chicano conferences more and more we are going to find midwest Chicanos attending and make themselves heard and felt in the decision making. More and more the Chicano of the midwest is joining the his brother in the southwest. We are recognizing who our oppressor is after being beaten to the ground for so many years. We are getting to our feet now and fighting institutionalized racism with clenched fists which personified the movement. In conclusion I might say that the problem are great, and growing and we need to take big bites instead of nibbling at them, if we are to make any headway in solving them. It's going to take people like you here today that are committed to the safeguarding of human dignity to bring about much needed changes. Today our country is feeling the tremors of social change. If our country is to survive and constitutional ideals are to be a reality for all, the political manipulists of power have got to relinquish their power to the people. Until then the salvation of our country and its ideals lies with the Chicano, the black and other dispossessed, oppressed, and disadvantaged people.
