Many of the children of these families are going to have a language problem. They must learn English before they can achieve in this instructional language. We have an obligation to these children to see that they receive their full measure of education. We must be concerned because we share a common heritage, culture and tradition and because we are linked together in the ethnic group we know as La Raza. We must take a more active role in PTA and be informed of the quality of teaching offered our children. We must offer our cooperation to our educators to participate in programs designed to bring about understanding of our Spanish speaking students. With our help the Spanish speaking student can realize the full potential of his learning capacity and avail himself of the opportunity awaiting him in our colleges and universities.
