-3- we have made our contribution to the fight for freedom and liberty in two world wars and in the so-called police action of the Korean Conflict and are no engaged in an unpopular war in Viet-Nam for the very same reasons. Many Americans do not understand why the black persists in his cry for equality when in the last 15 years there has been substantial legislative progress in the area of civil rights not realizing as the black man experiences day by day that much of this legislation is rendered null and void by counter-legislative measures or surreptitious maneuvering behind the lines of civil rights gains. I would suggest a reading of Martin Luther Kind's "WHY WE CAN'T WAIT" which dramatically and eloquently exposes these underground practices activity to sabotage the efforts to implement civil rights measures progress. It is because of this hard line resistance to accepting the black man as a full fledged citizen and more importantly as an equal possessed of the human qualities that dignify man above the lower creatures, that made it necessary to bring into being such catalyst agencies such as Human Relations Commission to receive complaints of discrimination, investigate them and initiate corrective action. The very fact that these agencies are necessary is ample proof that prejudice discrimination still seethes darkly in our America mentality and often is manifested in discriminatory acts and practices. It is also evident in the disaproving glances or outright stares of hatred at black and white social relations fraternization. Brave indeed are the black and white couples who link their lives and destinies together in a interracial marriage. If all else is revoked.
