The Mexican People of the Quad City Area The first Mexican immigrants to the Quad-City area arrived about the year 1913. The [authors] father who arrived that year noted that their were only two or three Mexican families living in the settlement of [Holy?] city in Bettendorf, Iowa. The author was born in [Holy] City in 1928 and during the time of his childhood recalls some 15 or more families living there the [Holy?] City are [?] of actually three sections on settlements. The smallest the [?] which literally decides the [?] structures were immediately [?] of the Bettendorf Shops ( now if [?] co.) further east and south along the [?] bank were two story apartments dwellings. These were commonly [?] the Flats, Continuing further east about two blocks was the cottages. These were one story 2 or three room structures lined up on the wast and west of a unpaved.
