Fort Madison, Branch OF THE National Association for the Advancement of Colored People NEWSLETTER IKE SMALLS TROPHY WINNER '65 SEPTEMBER 16, 1965 Fort Madison, Iowa 52627 IMPORTANT!!! Executive Committee Meeting 4:45 PM City Hall Sunday, September 19, 1965 BRANCH MEETING!! 5:30 PM CITY HALL SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1965 ATTENTION! ALL Committee Chairmen are requested to make plans to attend a meeting to be held on Thursday, September 23, 1965 at 8PM. The place for the meeting will be announced at a later date. This is a very important meeting as far as the direction, action of this particular branch will take, in the future. October 9th is the date set for the Annual Meeting of the Iowa State Conference of Branches. The one-day Workshop meetings will be held at the Hotel Savory in Des Moines, Iowa. This will be the 25th anniversary of the Iowa State Conference and the 50th anniversary of the Des Moines, Iowa, Branch, of the NAACP. Registration will take place Saturday morning from 8 AM until 9 AM. This will be followed by Workshops which will be conducted by Miss Althea Simmons of the National Office. Registration for adults is $3.00 and $.50 for all youth delegates. There will also be a banquet and a dance, with the banquet speaker's name to be announced at a later date. Price for the banquet and dance tickets is $5.00. We hope Fort Madison will be will be represented by a delegation which will surpass those of the past three years, numerically. From experience, we know that the workshops which Miss Simmons conducts are interesting and invaluable from the standpoint of practical information. On Sunday morning, October 10th, delegates from the 10 states which make up Region IV of the NAACP will hold an Executive Board Meeting. In charge of this meeting will be Mr. Donald Lewis, Regional Chairman from St. Paul, Minnesota. Attend the regular meeting of the Branch and take an active part in a program which must be geared to meet the requirements of the new course in the fight for the rights of all men!
