Fort Madison, Branch OF THE National Association for the Advancement of Colored People NEWSLETTER IKE SMALLS TROPHY WINNER OF '63 JULY 16, 1964 Regular Branch Meeting! Thursday, July 23, 1964 8PM Union Presbyterian Church 719 Avenue F Let us try increasing the attendance at branch meetings with each member who is regularly in attendance, bringing another person,...member or non-member with him. It is also important for members of the local youth council to come to the meetings because there are several projects which are in the 'planning' stage that will require co-operative effort on the part of both the youth and the adult groups. The annual NAACP Picnic has been scheduled for August 22, 1964, and will be held on the Dr. Harry Harper farm. Mr. Louis Dade has consented to serve as chairman. All of the workers who did such a wonderful job, last year, will again be asked to help make this event successful. All members will be contacted and given additional information at a later date. On June 28, 1964, the members of the local branch lost another member,...a good friend and dependable co-worker. It is not an easy thing to say goodbye to one whose presence has meant so much. Although very busy, Father Paul Coleman was very seldom too busy to anything we asked of him. The members of the Fort Madison Branch of the NAACP ask God to bless Father as he assumes his new position as Principal of Assumption High School in Davenport, Iowa. Ideas for the entry of the local branch in the forthcoming Rodeo Parade are still being accepted. Lets have yours by the next meeting!!! SELECTIVE BUYING!
