The regularly scheduled meetings of the Executive Committee and the Membership, WILL NOT be held on October 19th. The next meeting will be in November. DON'T FORGET! ! ! The annual IOWA STATE CONFERENCE OF NAACP BRANCHES will be held in Ottumwa, Iowa..., October 17, 18 and 19th at the Holiday Inn! "...Will we try to be free? Lest you fear I want to sexually integrate, See me? Isn't that argument a few generations late? A resident of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mrs. Alexander is a successful trial attorney and a senior partner in the firm of Alston, Alexander, Pell and Pell. She has been admitted to practice in New York and before the U. S. Supreme Court as well as several District courts. Courses in NEGRO HISTORY, MEXICAN HISTORY and FAMILY LIVING will be co-sponsored by Fort Madison's Community Action Center and the Cattermole Public Library. Classes are scheduled to begin, October 28th at the Center and October 30th at the Library. Negro History and Mexican History classes will be held on Teusday nights while the course in Family Living which deals with the relationship of teen-agers and their parents, will be held on Thursday nights. The classes will be made up of films, lectures and discussions. The History courses will be taught by George Garcia, who teaches history at Waco high school in Olds, Iowa. Mrs. Annis Gross, area director of Southeast Iowa Planned Parenthood, who lives in Keokuk, Iowa, will be in charge of the Family Living class. Although acceptable, a contribution of $1.50 per class to help defray the expenses of the course, is not required. For more information, call either the Center or the Library. DON'T BUY CALIFORNIA TABLE GRAPES!! ! Help Cesar Chavez and the members of his National Farm Workers Association so they might earn a decent living wage and also be protected from harmful pesticides.
