Our Branch President, Dr. Harry Harper, Sr. was honored by his fraternity, in Peoria, Illinois at the meeting of the North Central Province of Kappa Alpha Psi. Dr. Harper received awards from his own Springfield Alumni Chapter as well as the outstanding Achievement Award of the North Central Province. All Americans, regardles of race ,color or creed,must watch and pray for the safe return of the astronaus.However,there are many who cannot ,honestly, be interested in the space program ,because it is hard to justify spending billions of dollars to reach the moon while there are people who are starving,in our own country. Cherry Blossom Pageant began in 1934, there will be a Black Cherry Blossom Princess! Her name is Linda Smythe.Linda is a medical cardiac technician at George Washington University Hospital. Judge Gerald Chargin was forced to resign his seat on the Juvenile Court bench in San Jose,California,because of radical slurs against Mexican-American. John M. Burgress, son of a dining car porter, became the first Black man to become a Bishop in the Episcopal Church in United States.This year he was installed as the 12th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts.
