- 4 - The first of our Home Visits was held on Sunday, November 26, 1967. in the home of the President of the local Branch. With members of the Executive Committee as participants, along with white couples as guests, the informal discussion was very enlightening and interesting. The program will be broadened after the first of the year and we hope to have many more participants. Remember one of the biggest of the existing barriers between groups of men,...is that of communication. This is really one of the best methods of helping to break it down. Anyone who wishes to participate should contact: Branch Administrative Secretary - Virginia Harper by calling: 372-3542 or 372-307 We need both homes and guests. How about you?... On, Sunday, December 17th, Mr. Charles Mays, Regional Director of the Youth and College Division is scheduled to meet with the Youth members of the Fort Madison Council at the Anthes Hotel in the Town and Country Room at 3:30 PM. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. "The rung of a ladder was never meant to rest upon, but only to hold a man's foot long enough to enable him to put the other one higher." Have you ever noticed that Anthologies of American Poetry do not include the works of Negro Poets?...And if they do they include the works of a chosen three! Who are they?....Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks or Countee Cullen! One cannot deny that there is a consistency...for it is still rare to look for and find the Negro in proper perspective as far as his contribution to the America of today, is concerned, in any Text Books. HAVE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE?...IF NOT,...NOW IS THE TIME!!! DON'T WAIT UNTIL IT IS TIME FOR ANOTHER ELECTION...,FOR IN MOST INSTANCES, YOU WILL HAVE WAITED UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. Remember voting is a duty of citizenship. When we snub, we snub Christ When we neglect, we neglect Christ When we hate, we hate Christ Wherever we turn, there is Christ in one of our brothers to bless or to hurt. Those who deny a neighbor, solely on the basis of race, the opportunity to buy a house, enjoy equal educational and job opportunities are in effect denying that right to Christ Himself. The heart of the fair housing issue is that every man, whatever his race, religion or national origin, has the moral right to acquire and occupy any house his means will allow, subject only to the obligation all members have to live as good neighbors in Christian charity. -Archbishop Patrick A.
