She has probably cut short her bright career, right in her youth, and for why? Simply to give pleasure to one of her nephews. She went out in the cold raw air of an August day - out into the cauld, cauld blawst, in other words, to buy stuff for a fruit cake. Your "other mother" stands like a General, in the middle of the kitchen floor, shouting commands to the rest of the household, but as usual, no one is paying any attention to her. I've an idea tho, that the cake will be a hum-dinger. They usually are when she makes them.
