It came closer cutting off to the north of us with the music of the motor increasing in volume then gradually fading as the airman disappeared again into the distance beyond the reach of eyesight. Up there on a Sunday morning in August it was good to be alive. How I wish you had been with me! A little later the four of us sat down in the cozy little dining compartment to good American steak and potatoes and baked beans and corn and bread and butter and jam and pickles and lettuce and -- I wonder if I'm getting it all? -- at the finish apricot pie. What with the ride and my climb up the hill I was in fine fettle for the food. It was good to taste again anything so homelike as that stuff. And
