slowly, but always they go ahead. Who would have expected such an offensive army to come out of the discouraged forces that fell back before the boche last spring? The American part is for the moment of minor importance in the fighting north of Soissons some of our troops with the French have beaten down terrific resistance, and yesterday they made a decided advance. Elsewhere our role is now to hold inactive sectons. Of course some time our chance will come, and, basing the prediction on the work north of the Marre, we expect to push the boches back. There are many signs of weakening on the German side. It would not be astounding if great things might happen before Christmas.
