'Simon Estes, Noted [[?]] ... May 26" S. Estes SEE FRONT PAGE season at Berlin, I sang in Strauss' "Salome" and Verdi's "Don Carlo." "In September of 1965 I participated in the Munich International Music competition and won third prize and have been offered many other singing opportunities which I have accepted. "During the current opera season I have sung with the Deutsche Oper in a new world premiere opera, "Der Traum des LioTung' in which I sang Tung. Later I sang in Arnold Schoenberg's "Moses and Aaron" and traveled with the Deutsche Oper to Rome Italy where we performed in the Rome Opera. Since returning from Rome, I have been singing in Lubeck Germany with the Lubeck opera where I have sung Timur in Puccini's "Turandot" and Dr. Bartolo in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." This Month "In the area of concert music I have sung concerts in Berlin, Munich, and Stuttgart Germany with Excellent reviews. In the near future I have concerts again in Berlin, Munich and Nurnberg. This month I will be singing in New York in Bach's "St. Matthew Passion." I have invitations to sing in Paris, France, Warsaw, Poland, and Prague, Czechoslovakia in the future. In Berlin I have also made a recording for Radio RIAS. "In the 1966 opera season, beginning in September, i will be singing in the following cities: Lubeck, Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen and Kassel. In Hamberg I will be singing in another world premiere opera written by the American composer, Gunther Schuller whose works have also been performed in Iowa. To Russia in June "In June of 1966, I will be representing the United States in the Peter Tchaikovsky music competition in Moscow Russia. I will be in Russia from June 8th through June 29. At the end of the competition, I will be returning to the United States where i will be singing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Eric Leinsdorf for six weeks and then in August return to Germany and Europe. ca. 1966 p. 2 (of 2)
