Ravina's debut draws Met stars [[photo caption]]Simon Estes[[end caption]] Dates for the 1986 Ravinia Festival at Highland Park, Ill., have been announced for June 27 to Sept. 14. The opening night gala will feature a performance of "Elektra," with a cast from the Metropolitan Opera -- Simon Estes in the role of Orestes, Ute Vinzing as Elektra, Leonie Rysanek as Chrysothemis and Mignon Dunn, Chrysothemis. James Levine will conduct the Chicago Symphony and Chorus in the opera by Richard Strauss, and will be in residence three of the festival weeks. Leonard Berstein brings the New York Philharmonic to Ravinia Aug. 5, and the Israel Philharmonic plays Aug. 31. The Chicago Symphony's "Pops" concerts are scheduled for July 27, with Gershwin music; Aug. 10, featuring Cole Porter tunes; and Aug. 17 with a program of Tchaikovsky.
