OM 100-4095 From available records, it has been ascertained that the GRIFFINs have one child, name unknown. b2 b7D According to information received from [ ] whose identity and reliability is known to the Bureau, the two subjects STANLEY and EDNA GRIFFIN, attended a District meeting of District #32 Communist Party of America, held on January 11, [194?] in the Flamingo Room of the Hotel Fort Des Moines in Des Moines Iowa. The meeting was held under the name of "The Committee for [?] Understanding." The discussion at this meeting was devoted mainly to encouraging the delegates to work for the Third Party Movement, (WALLACE). Also, to encourage people to join the Progressive Citizens of America and contribute money to the campaign. The details of this District meeting have been reported to the Omaha Office in the case entitled "COMMUNIST PARTY, USA, DISTRICT #32, OMAHA FIELD DIVISION." [ ] also advised that EDNA GRIFFIN who is also Secretary and Treasurer of the Des Moines Branch of the Communist Party, USA, arranged for a meeting to be held at the Crocker Branch of the YMCA, 14th and School Streets, Des Moines, Iowa, in order to raise funds for the defense of [ ] b2 b7C b7D [ ] b7C According to [ ] this meeting was not held, however. On March 13, 1948, however, at the Crocker Branch of the YMCA a meeting was held with the purpose in mind of raising funds for the defense of ROSA LEE INGRAM, negress, and her two sons upon whom the death sentence was imposed by Schley County, Georgia, Jury. According to [ ] EDNA GRIFFIN again made all the arrangements for the obtaining of the hall as well as the preparation for the entertainment. There were approximately thirty-two people in attendance at this meeting and admission price was fifty cents for each adult. According to the informant, most of the other members of the Communist Party in Des Moines, Iowa, were also present at this meeting. According to EDNA a total of approximately $35.00 was raised at this meeting. b2 b7D -3-
