It is further suggested that paragraph 4, page 2, should be rewritten as follows: "Confidential Informant [ ] a reliable source, advised that Warren Batterson, District #32 Organiser, Communist Party -USA, had asked subject why she did not hold more Communist Party meeting in Des Moines, and had also informed her that he would be in more frequent contact with the Des Moines party in the future." b2 b7D Paragraph 5, page 2, should also be rewritten as follows: [[] was advised that on October 29, 1949, a birthday party in honor of the subject was held in her home at 1108 3rd Street, Des Moines. Warren Batterson, mentioned above, and Charles Howard, subject's attorney, were present. Howard spoke about his trip to New York and the fact that he had introduced Paul Robeson at a Progressive Party meeting in New York City and that Robeson had been enthusiastically received. Warren Batterson distributed copies of the 'Daily Worker' an east coast daily Communist newspaper, dated October 21, 1949 which contained the story of the conviction of the 11 Communist leaders in New York City. Batterson advised those present at the Party that he had distributed five thousand copies of the 'Daily Worker' in Omaha shortly before this birthday party. [ ] a member of the Omaha Branch of the Communist Party, was also present at this party according to informants." b2 b7C b7D The synopsis of referenced report should also be rewritten to correspond with the information set out in the body of the report. Four copies of referenced report are being returned herewith and you are instructed to rewrite this report in accordance with the above suggestions and submit corrected copies to the Bureau.The copies presently maintained in your file should also be replaced by corrected copies.
