DETAILS: Confidential Informant [ ] reliable source, advised that WARREN BATTERSON, District #32 Organizer, Communist Party - USA, had asked subject why she did not hold more Communist Party meetings in Des Moines, and had also informed her that he would be in more frequent contact with the Des Moines Party in the future. b2 b7D [handwritten] Posted 2/28/50 D/R ICC [?] 2/28/50 CBB:g [ ] has also been informed that the subject was contacting members of the Communist Party in Des Moines asking for contributions to be sent to New York City as bail money for the eleven Communists convicted in the New York, New York trial. [ ] was advised that on October 29, 1949, a birthday party in honor of the subject was held in her home at 1108 3rd Street, Des Moines, Iowa. WARREN BATTERSON, mentioned above, and CHARLES HOWARD, subject's attorney, were present. HOWARD spoke about his trip to New York and the fact that he had introduced PAUL ROBESON at a Progressive Party meeting in New York City and that ROBESON had been enthusiastically received.
