OM 100-4095 [ ] advised that on the night of July 9, 1950 she was the main speaker at a negro church meeting in Des Moines, Iowa. She stated that while there she saw the aforementioned negro woman who had been soliciting signatures on the peace petition and upon inquiry ascertained that her name was EDNA GRIFFIN. [ ] advised that during her talk at this church she made the comment that good should be returned for evil and that the world would be a better place if this could be carried out. She stated that she mentioned as an example of this theory [ ] of Rumania as a lady who returned evil for good. She stated that after the church meeting EDNA GRIFFIN came to her and criticized her severely, stating that " You do not know anything about [ ] she is the savior of Rumania and a great woman." She also stated " You are reading the wrong publications and you are not getting the same information that I get concerning [ ] and activities in Rumania." b7C Subject still resides at 1108 3rd Street, Des Moines, Iowa. b2 b7D Confidential Informant [ ] a reliable source, advised that subject has been encouraging members of the Communist Party in Des Moines, Iowa to circulate the aforementioned peace petitions. - P E N D I N G- -2-
