EDNA later rough drafted the answers for [blank box] and her rough draft answers are contained in the file of Informant [blank box]. b2 b7C b7D OTTO ANSTROM told EDNA GRIFFIN to try and influence the NAACP in Des Moines, Iowa to help sell WILLIAM PATTERSON's book "Genocide". At the same time EDNA also informed OTTO concerning her contacts with [blank box] and the fact that he was doing to Sioux City, Iowa, to arouse the Packinghouse Workers s regards JIM CROW issues. She also showed OTTO a letter she had received from the Progressive Party concerning candidates for President and Vice President. b7C EDNA also informed [blank box] that they should never mention names over the telephone as it is against Party policy to mention names over the phone. b2 b7D On February 25, 1952, EDNA GRIFFIN asked [blank box] what the [blank box] family could do because their landlady had asked them to move out of their apartment since they had had negro guests, namely, STANLEY and EDNA GRIFFIN. [blank box] while [blank box] was at [blank box] OTTO ANSTROM told him that they were going to meet at [blank box] house the next day and that Informant should prepare food for them . On Sunday, March 2, 1952, a meeting which was later termed as a District Organizational Meeting was held at the home of [blank box] OTTO ANSTROM in company with an individual known as [blank box] later identified as [blank box] subject of the Smith Act investigation, Chicago Field Division, and organizer for the Communist Party in Illinois, arrived at approximately 9:45 a.m. and the following persons also were present at the meeting: [blank box] Omaha, Nebraska; [blank box] Des Moines, Iowa; [blank box] Des Moines, Iowa; EDNA GRIFFIN, Des Moines, Iowa and [blank box] Cedar Rapids, Iowa. b2 b7C b7D All of these are known Communist Party members and the activities of this meeting have already been reported to the Bureau. On February 26, 1952, EDNA GRIFFIN informed [blank box] that [blank box] was not a Communist and she would not join the Communist Party because of the [blank box] has been treated in Omaha, Nebraska and [blank box] was afraid of OTTO.
