[Quinn Conroy] Letter to director, FBI NY 100-108746 It is to noted that the "Daily Worker" for 4/30/46, page 5, column 1, in an article entitled, "State Negro Ves Perley Planned, " stated that a group of forty Negro veterans initiated plans for a state veterans conference on 6/8-9/46 at NYC. The name was established ass the New York Council of Unitedd Negro and Allied Veterans of America. The group was known as the NY State Organizing Committee for UNAVA. EDNA GRIFFIN was listed as vice chairman. It is to be noted that the UNAVA has been cited by the Attorney General as coming within the purview of Executive Order 9835. The 5/4/46 issue of "People Voice," on page 10, contained a similar articlle entitled "New York Confab Planned by Vets." EDNA GRIFFIN was again mentioned as vice chairman of the NY State Organizing Committee for UNAVA. No other identifying data was contained in these article. [blank box] a Confidental Informant of the NYO, furnished a typewritten list of students registerd at the Workers School attending the summer sessions of the Workers School for the period July 19 through July 30, 1943. Included was the name EDNA GRIFFIN, 280 Decatur Street, Brooklyn, NY. [blank box] Brooklyn, NY, advised that she is the oldest resident at that address but could offer no information concerning EDNA GRIFFIN. RUC. b7C 3
