[blank box] was described by Confidential Informant [blank box] a reliable source, as a concealed Communist Party member. [blank box] has been described by [blank box] as a person sympathetic to the Communist cause and [blank box] has been described by the same source as believed to be a member of the Communist Party. b2 b7C b7D EDNA GRIFFIN according to [blank box] was in constant contact with [blank box] during her stay in Des Moines, Iowa and helped to arrange lectures and speeches and interviews by and with [blank box] [blank box] left Des Moines, Iowa, on July 22, 1952. The Chicago Office nothing had come to their attention concerning the activities of the subject at the Progressive Party Convention held in Chicago on July 4 - 6, 1952. Confidential Informant [blank box] of known reliability, advised that the subject has renewed her subscription to " The Daily Worker", an east coast Communist newspaper. b2 b7D [blank box] advised to the best of Informant's knowledge [blank box] has not been in further contact with the subject or other members of the Communist Party in Des Moines, Iowa. b2 b7C b7D [blank box] was not able to furnish any further identifying data concerning [blank box] b7C Other investigative efforts in Des Moines, Iowa, to date have failed to identify [blank box] [blank box] also advised that as far as could be ascertained there is no connection between the subject and [blank box] of [blank box] b2 b7C b7D -3-
