OM 100-4095 ADMINISTRATIVE DATA The following information is being placed on the Administrative page in as such as it is believed that dissemination of same would reveal the identity of the Informant. It is believed that this information might reveal the identity of the Informant because of the manner in which it was secured, namely, through conversations with the subject. [blank box] advised that in preparation for the trip to Chicago, Illinois, for the National Progressive Party convention held July 4 - 6, 1952, EDNA GRIFFIN had corresponded with Iowa City to ascertain what persons were going form that City. On or about June 27 or 28, 1952, the subject contacted [blank box] at his office at which time she told him of the forthcoming National Convention and that she was going. [blank box] stated he would like to go but could not because of the action pending on his License renewal to practice law in September 1952. [blank box] asked EDNA to convey a message to PAUL ROBESO and others, wishing them look in their forth coming campaign. b2 b7C b7D EDNA asked [blank box] to put th message in writing is he would. [blank box] does not know if she picked up the message. b7C Informant also advised that a couple by the name of [blank box] accompanied them to the Progressive Party Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Informant advised that the [blank box] are new residing in Des Moines and that he met them at the home of EDNA GRIFFIn. He believes they are both members of the Communist Party. He believes they are both members of the Communist Party. He believes that according to their conversation, they came from Brooklyn, New York. The Informant is securing further information concerning this couple in order that appropriate investigation may be conducted. On July 7, 1952 [blank box] visited the home of EDNA GRIFFIN, 1108 3rd Street, Des Moines, Iowa, and found a lady there by the name of [blank box] who was baby sitting for EDNA while she was at the State Chairman's Progressive Party meeting in Chicago Illinois. Subsequent investigation of [blank box] and her husband revealed that they are members of the Communist Party in Los Angeles, California. -4-
