OM 100-4095 ADMINISTRATIVE DATA from nine states and although things looked tough, they were working out in favor of the Communist Party, ANSTROM also advised the Informant that he would probably not be seeing too much of him or the other group because he was under orders from the Party not to be seen. The Informant, on the same date, discussed with EDNA at what hotel Mrs. BASS could stay and EDNA visited [blank box] and received a contribution of $20.00. She stated that she was also directed to the Executive Council of the Packinghouse for future contributions. b7C On July 15, 1852, EDNA contacted ED WAGNER of WOITV concerning the possibility of a TV interview for Mrs. BASS. She also contacted WHO and KWDM and both stations agreed to give time to Mrs. BASS. On July 16, 1952, EDNA had a Young Mother's Council meeting at her home in which she tried to influence those women who did not know anything about the Progressive Party to come and hear Mrs. BASS speak on the subject of the Progressive Party. On July 17, 1952 EDNA GRIFFIN and [blank box] made hotel reservations for Mrs. BASS in the Hotel Savory. She also received a call from ED WAGNER, WOITV, the Program Director, concerning the interview, who had started to go to Ames, Iowa that day but had an accident at Huxley, Iowa, and could not complete the arrangements. b7C On July 18, 1952, EDNA discussed the ways to entertain Mrs. BASS and also advised the Informant that handbills were to be distributed beginning early Monday Morning. EDNA advised the Informant that she and [blank box] had gone to the Packinghouse to distribute these bills. On July 15, 1952, LAWRENCE ROSS, Iowa City, Iowa, came to Des Moines, Iowa to help distribute these handbills as well as [blank box] and [blank box] [blank box].
