OM 100-4095 On February 2, 1955, subject was engaged in collecting signatures to a letter of commendation to be given to Dr. HAROLD C. UREY, of the University of Chicago, at a testimonial dinner. This was to be given UREY because he has been a fighter against the trial and conviction of JULIUS and ETHEL ROSENBERG, and also was trying to secure the release of SOBEL, who convicted in connection with the ROSENBERG case. Subject is described as intelligent and a person well grounded in the fundamentals of Communism and an individual who would carry out an assignment given her by the Communist Party. Reference is also made to SAC Letter 55-22(A), captioned Security Index dated February 10, 1955. It is my recommendation that the captioned tabbing for Detcom on the captioned individual be retained, in that she is considered a key figure in the Omaha Office. -3-
