one card from Hy, tho I've not had time to open it, but it's from Texas, so he never did go across. Too bad that some of the fellows who most needed the experience to make men out of them have to remain on this side and continue on as yaps. In a coupla weeks Mama is going out to sell courses (lyceum) so I'll be a orphan as well as a widder. I simply can't manage that furnace alone so do come home. Conger, if you pop in here without letting me know I'll never forgive you. Honestly I'd never get over being afraid of you if you did such things, so don't begin. Give me time to say to myself -- "He's coming tomorrow and I'm going to be very much unafraid." I really have to plan such things. They are very like concerts, and use me up in much the same manner. Tho I'm quite calm outwardly, I'm simply churning inside. Have you read all this? If so
