Saving...
The man remembers when a child He played beside his mother's door, Or on some special holiday The woods and meadows rambled o'er, Or with his sister gathered shells Along the sandy shore. May each one have some days that shine Like stars through time's cold mist and rain To be the sunshine of the heart, The balm to soothe its bitterest pain The sweet, melodious harmonies In life's majestic strain. TO AN ELDERLY FRIEND ON HER BIRTHDAY Your life so rich in length of years Has known both joy and pain and tears, But clear and bright until the last Come happy memories of the past. For time can dull the keenest pain 'Till only pleasant thoughts remain; And on the path that lies ahead may these their sweetest fragrance shed-- 'Till out of life's last night is born The glory of eternal morn. -7-
