Value of a Division of the Stride Level The value of a division of the stride level may be determined by comparing the stride level with the alidade level. As before stated, the alidade is a movable arm passing in front of the vertical circle ([?] circle) and carrying a [?] and the alidade level is the level by means of which the [?] is [just?] into a horizontal position. The alidade tangent screw is a screw used in moving the [?] with respect to the circle when the circle is changed. Before comparing the stride level with the alidade level we shall find the value of a division of the alidade level by comparing it with the vertical circle.
