Comparison of the Stride Level with the Alidade Level 
Having determined the value of a division of the alidade level we can compare the stride level with it and find to what fractional past of a division of the alidade level a division of the stride level is equivalent. Then we can find the value of a division of the stride level in seconds of [arc?]
Put the zero of the [?] opposite to the zero of the circle as we did before comparing the alidade level with the vertical circle. Clamp the axis so that it can be moved by means of the declinations tangent screw, and clamp the circle 
The telescope having been thought to a horizontal position, set the stride level on it. Pass a string under the level tube and fasten both ends to a support above the level so that if the level should be passed off it will be supported by the string and
