107 In 1806 Mr. Wright resigned his seat in the senate to become governor of Maryland. 1 He served two years in this capacity, resigned and in 1810 was elected to the house of representatives. Early in the term of service he introduced an amendment to the constitution making the judges of the supreme and inferior courts removable from office on the joint address of the senate and house of representatives. 2 This fared even worse than his seaman protection bill for the house refused to consider it at all. Mr. Wright belonged to the war party When Mr. Emmott of New York condemned the government for its attitude toward England, Mr. Wright made his most bitter attacks against the opposition denouncing them 1. 69 years later Wm Pinckney resigned the governorship to become U.S. senator 2.
