Sturnella magna (L) A species partly gregarious and rather imperfectly migratory. It is widely distributed over Eastern North America. In the west it blends into the species S. neglecta (Audubon), the Western Meadow Lark which differs in its thrush like song and in the coloration of rami of jaws and the black bars of tail and wing coverts. Two hundred and fifty specimens were taken from a collection of seven hundred and fifty, only those which were manifestly mature being studied. 123 or 50% are males. 82 or 32+% are females, and 18 % are unidentified.
