[underlined][underlined][underlined]PROTREMATA.[/underlined][/underlined][/underlined] Articulate Brachiopods which have the pedicle passing through a foramen which is confined to the ventral valve during the first part or all of life. [underlined][underlined]Strophomenidae[/underlined][/underlined] In this family the hinge areas are well developed and the pedicle opening is partly or entirely closed by a deltidium and chilidium Berbya.
