Shell small sub-circular, usually somewhat wider than long, double convex, hinge short, margin entire except in a few individuals which are slightly sinuous anteriorly, hinge area narrow, foramen small, Dorsal valve convex, beak rather prominent and arched, a slight mesial depression. Ventral valve slightly more convex than the other, beak prominent, pointed slightly incurved. Surface marked by concentric lines of growth, and by radiating striae which increase in number by intercalations, toward the anterior and lateral borders,. Geol. Pos.-- Missouri stage, Upper Carboniferous. Localities, -- Adair and Guthrie Counties in Iowa.
