     In the early embryonic stages of this order the pedicle foramen is shared by both valves, while in later stages it is usually comfined to the ventral valve. The arm supports are calcareous crura, loops, or spines.

[underlined][underlined]Rhynchonellidae[/underlined][/underlined]

     In this family the arms are supported by crura.
