Shell ovate or elliptical, not very large, length greater than height by about one-half. Shell convex umbos rounded passing more abruptly to anterior than to posterior margin; beaks incurved anterior to middle. Hinge margin nearly or quite straight, making an angle with the slightly curved posterior margin; basal margin semi-elliptical; anterior margin curving slowly around to hinge line. Surface marked by rather prominent, sharp, concentric ridges separated by broad rounded furrows.
