P-C 5/12/71 PRESS CONFERENCE'- Capt. Lyle Dickinson, commanding officer of the 200 highway patrolmen who battled with demonstrators Tuesday night held an impromptu street-corner press conference late last night and termed the outbreak "the worst we have ever seen in Iowa City," He commended the men under his command for bravery and "ability to walk right in there amidst rocks and bottles and still keep their cool." Dickinson also told reporters his men will do all they can to assure that the university is not closed prematurely. CARS SEARCHED - After highway patrolmen retreated from the dormitory area at 2 a.m. they stood watch at Riverside Drive and Burlington Street. Four cars approached their lines, and they were stopped. Their drivers were questioned and the cars searched. All were allowed to pass following the brief inspection.
