" UI Obtains Temporary Injunction" cont. McQuillen noted that access to residence halls in normal circumstances is not restricted to residents and that the injunction is to be interpreted as setting out such a prohibition only when university officials announce such restrictions. Rehder estimated damage done to the men's dorms Tuesday night at $1,290 The bulk of the damage he said, was at Hillcrest and Quad where windows and screens were broken, furniture slashed and broken, and fire hoses pulled out from cases that were smashed. Forty-eight parking meters with a total value of about $2,160 were destroyed. Demonstrators reportedly broke open the meter tops in an attempt to get bail money for persons arrested that night. The tops of some 30 other meters in the area of Quad and Hillcrest were subsequently removed by UI physical plant personnel. There also was damage to retaining walls around the dorms, as demonstrators chipped off rocks to use as "missiles" Ralph E. Speer Jr, Iowa City public works director, said his maintenance men were out at 5 a.m. Wednesday to repair two stop lights which had been torn down. He estimated damage to the signals and other traffic signs at between $800 and $1,000
