Iowa City, IA. - Six persons arrested during a sit-in at a busy highway intersection here Tuesday night pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct Wednesday and were fined $105 each by Police Judge Joseph Thornton. Thirteen persons pleases innocent to the disorderly conduct charge and their trial was set for May 15 here. All were arrested during the same sit-in which ended a massive, peaceful protest march through the University of Iowa campus and downtown Iowa City. A juvenile charged with disorderly conduct was released to his parent and his case transferred to juvenile court. Patrolmen Remain Two persons remain in custody in Johnson County Jail under $10,000 bond on more serious charges. One is charged with arson and the other with malicious injury to a building. Meanwhile, a contingent of Iowa Highway patrolmen remained here Wednesday as a precautionary move in event of further disruptions coinciding with President Nixon's mining of North Vietnamese harbors. Only about 30 persons gathered on the Pentacrest Wednesday night under the watchful eye of dozens of state patrolmen who patroled the downtown and campus areas. Most of the young people sat in small groups discussing what could be done the rest of the week. About 750 persons, many students from the University of Iowa, block the Burlington Street Bridge at the intersection with Riverside Drive during a massive antiwar demonstration in Iowa City Tuesday night. Police later dispersed the crowd and arrested 22 persons. Most of those arrested took part in a sit-in in the street. Theme for the human barricade was "If Nixon can blockade for war, we can blockade for peace."
